Mayor Brad West

Why I’m Running

When Port Coquitlam elected me as Mayor, I made a commitment to focus on getting the basics right and deliver results that residents can see.

That means keeping taxes affordable, investing in infrastructure, supporting public safety, building great parks and recreation facilities, and ensuring City Hall works for the people who pay for it.

That focus has helped make Port Coquitlam one of the best places to live in the province.

Today, we have the lowest average property taxes and utility fees in the region, while continuing to invest in the services residents depend on every day. Our community is one of the safest in BC, with a historic low crime rate. And our Community Centre is not only one of the largest in British Columbia, it’s also seeing record-breaking usage.

But numbers only tell part of the story. What I am most proud of is the community we’ve built together. A place where kids can play, families can put down roots and people can feel optimistic about the future.

Port Coquitlam is where my wife Blaire and I are raising our two young sons. It’s where I’ve lived my entire life, where I learned the value of hard work, community and stepping up when help is needed.

This community has given so much to me and my family, and serving as your Mayor is the greatest honour of my life.

I’m running for re-election because there is more work to do. Together, we’ve built one of British Columbia’s best-run cities. Now it’s time to keep moving forward.
